I recently made chromium from thermite.
The recipe I used was 20 grams Cr2O3:12 grams K2Cr2O7:11.4 grams Aluminium powder.
The mixture was ignited using some magnesium ribbon and a mixture of aluminium and sulfur.
After breaking the slag I got around 12 grams of chromium(~67% yield based on Cr2O3 and K2Cr2O7) although it likely contains Al contamination like
most thermite reactions.
(The remaining slag and the thermite container was put in a ascorbic acid solution to destroy any Cr(VI) )

Rather nice.
I would love to see a cut or ground surface to see if you get the characteristic shiny that Cr exhibits.

When breaking the slag the were small beads of chromium and after breaking one, it was pretty shiny. It looks kinda similar to the attached image, but
smaller.
