I am doing a science fair project to see if there is a relationship of an oxidant's half cell potential and the brightness of the light produced when
it is mixed with a luminol/K3Fe(CN)6.
I will be measuring the light using a LDR.
Here is the oxidants I will be using (all 0.001mol eq)
Nitric Acid
Hydrogen Peroxide
Potassium Iodate
Potassium Bromate
Sodium Periodate
Ammonium Perchlorate
What do you think

Looks like fun
Re: your signature; Sulfur sulphur? Your you're?
I'd say we're even

Projects cool let us hear the results.....
I wanna know which sustains the longest.
As far as the sig, Hes suggesting hes gonna get pissed if some one spells SULPHUR the way it is suppose to be spelled.
Its like saying, I say potato you say Pa TA Tos TO Ma so.....

It's as if he doesn't live in a British English country. Oh wait, he doesn't - our country forgot how to speak English years ago
I vote Ammonium perchlorate, because it'll probably smell the worst.

Mewrox99 please tell me that it wasn't the NZ school system that taught you to miss-spell the 16th element on the periodic table, but rather it was
the result of a saturated diet of American TV. If the answer is yes then I will have a word to my school teacher wife!

Mewrox your sig has gone?
I feel bad now.
Scientists of all kinds will always argue over pedantic semantics
mewrox99 - 22-7-2010 at 02:07
Ironically it was the school spelling it sulphur that annoyed me.
Something about the seeing 'Sulphuric' Acid really strongly irritated me.
Anyway you weren't the reason I got rid of the sig. I just thought it was a tad silly.

Fair enough, each to their own! No disrespect meant to either you or the US spelling. Although I purposely spell such names as "Vodafone" as
Voder-phoneā€¯ because I feel such spelling is a blatant attack on the English language (tongue in cheek of course).
Sounds like a great project. I have to ask did you purchase these chemicals privately or as part of the education system?

It amuses me when people try to connect to vodaphone servers and wonder why they aren't working.

Ah, the New Zealanders thread. . .
psychokinetic - 22-7-2010 at 13:08

1.5g Luminol Arrived today!
Really excited. I can't play with it till tuesday though
psychokinetic - 23-7-2010 at 00:18
Aw. Too busy?
Probably a good thing, or else there might not be anything left for the science fair
mewrox99 - 23-7-2010 at 04:35
Nah my chem teacher currently has it.
