Jared Ledgard is the author of several error-filled works including, but not limited to:
- A laboratory History of Chemical Warfare Agents
- The Preparatory Manual of Explosives
Jared Ledgard's work offers detailed methods for the preparation of various "Taboo" compounds, but almost none of them work. Only a few of the methods described in the infamous Preparatory Manual Of Explosives work, the rest are hard to verify due to lack of citations or references.
No matter how plausible the "Procedures" may seem, do not follow any of them unless you want something to waste your time on or are applying for a Darwin Award.
There is not much information about Ledgard on the Internet, which-along with the ineffective procedures-would make one seriously doubt his qualifications as an organic chemist and inventor (No patents could be found under his name, which also seems to suggest that "Jared Ledgard" is a pseudonym, making his works even shadier).
In short, Ledgard is what one might call a "Snake-oil man", but according to one ScienceMadness member, some have speculated that Ledgard's work is an example of deliberate misinformation.
