An old and worn out Florence flask

A Florence flask or flat bottom flask, is a type of flask used as an item of laboratory glassware to hold liquids.

General

A Florence flask has a single long vertical neck attached to a round body with a flat bottom. The flask is produced in a number of different glass thicknesses to stand different types of use. Flat bottom flasks are often made of borosilicate glass, in order to have good heat and chemical resistance. Traditional Florence flasks typically do not have a ground glass joint and appear like rounded Erlenmeyer flasks.
