This article has the intention of providing a non-exhaustive list with no attempt at completeness of chemical journals or book series that are available online on various websites and provide links or commentary on the availability, as sometimes the resources despite being available online can't easily be found.
If the journal or book seems to be unavailable, try to check The Internet Archive and Google Books. You can also try Library Genesis/SciHub-project. If you have access to SciFinder, a translated abstract might be available even when the journal isn't digitally accessible.
For patents, try Google Patents, Espacenet[1] or others. Sometimes you may need to go to the country specific patent office websites, for example for old german patents. See German patent office, French patent office, Hugarian patent office.
Also see Wikisource and this collection of freely available journals. Another large list is available at this illumina-chemie.de thread.
