Ferrite rings/cores - composition & extraction?

I took apart a few electronics that had some large ferrite rings (they were on a CRT tube wrapped with copper wire) and was wondering if there is anything they can be used for or if the material could be used for something. I found that they are usually made of Manganese-Zinc + Fe2O4 or NiZn + Fe2O4. They seem almost as brittle as ferrite magnets but the magnets are supposedly made of Fe2O3.

Anyway, the reason I ask is because I have about 15-20lbs of these. I'd kind of be happy separating out the iron oxide to play with a little thermite reactions.

Does anyone know if this stuff can be used for something?
