2-bromo-6-nitro-toluene
hi, i found a thread here about the synthesis of this compound, but i’m not sure on what conclusions were made. what i think they ended up saying is
that p-toluene sulfonic acid could be mononitrated, then brominated, and then desulfonated using h2so4. would this work?

Probably, although the bromination would be tricky since the system would be strongly deactivated.
