Synthesis of BaO2 from Ba(NO3)2
Hi.
Is it possible to make Barium Peroxide from Barium Nitrate.
I can make Barium Oxide by the Barium Nitrate to decomposition.
The question is how do I make Barium Peroxide from Barium Oxide. I have 3% H2O2, but can get some 30% if needed.
Thanks.

For anhydrous BaO2 you want the first half of the Brin process, passing dry CO2-free air over BaO at 600 C and 2 bar pressure. See attachment
For the hydrated peroxide go download the book here http://www.archive.org/details/introductiontoc00dunlgoog and read page 33.

Hydrated peroxide can be easily produced by adding 30% hydrogen peroxide to fairly concentrated barium nitrate solution. It has low solubility in cold
water (~0.1) and can be easily separated by filtration. Anhydrous peroxide may be obtained by heating - it looses 8 molecules of it's crystalline
water at ~100C.
