Charcoal as Bismuth Powder Flux

I have been working on adding bismuth to my element collection and got the blackish metal powder with ease, although have stopped short of melting it due to its tendency to oxidise or evaporate. Conveniently, NileRed made another video on bismuth recently and someone in the comments mentioned the use of carbon powder as as sort of flux to prevent oxidation. To me it makes sense, but does anyone else see this as feasible?

To me, wax looks better as it'll fill air pockets and float easier than charcoal.

I should have searched the forums better, there is already a thread on this. Feel free to delete this. According to it, parifin wax does not work but charcoal does as a solid flux.
