Hello lambda eye,

Thanks for your effort, but the CAS number that u have provided corresponds to Phenol, 4,4',4''-ethylidynetris-, triacetate; which is entirely different molecule.
Attention moderators: I dont think this question belongs to beginnings section coz the attachment has been downloaded 30 times already & still the question is unanswered.

Around here pretty much every post that doesn't come with some kind of literature reference is put to the beginnings section, regardless of its complexity or difficulty. I don't entirely agree with it, but it is the way of things here.

In regards to your question the compound you are talking about would be called 2-phenylethane-1,1,1-triol and the CAS number is 753412-73-6. However it is usually impossible for three hydroxyl groups to exist on the same carbon atom, so I doubt that you succeeded in making this.

Hii UKnowNotWatUDo,

I think u havent seen the attachment that i have posted here. The molecule i have synthesized:P is entirely different than what u r talking about. It doesnt contains three hydroxyl groups on the same carbon atom.
PLease see the attachment.
Awaiting ur reply.

Well then, that's the problem with not using IUPAC naming. People have to guess at what you are talking about. Not to mention that the picture in your attachment shows three ACETOXY groups. Not HYDROXY. The two are very different.

Edit: In any case, the name of the compound in the attachment is ethane-1,1,1-triyltribenzene-4,1-diyl triacetate. Here is a link

With Chemdraw 2010 the name comes out as, ethane-1,1,1-triyltris(benzene-4,1-diyl) triacetate.

No CAS is found online after a quick search...

@Resonance frequency - the structure you provided is the same as the structure Bahamuth drew, which is the same as the structure that Lambda-Eyde provided you a CAS number for. If your compound is completely different from 52205-74-0, in what structural features does the difference lie?

Perhaps the "hydroxy" in the name you provided indicates that you have removed the acetoxy groups to leave just the phenols? In that case, the CAS number would be 27955-94-8.

If these are not the compounds you are talking about, please try providing a new structure
