Hexamine Nitration
Could any one tell me what is the heat of reaction making concentrated Hexamine Nitrate? I want to add one mol HNO3 into a one mol Hexamine solution.
I want to calcute the heat of reaction and final temperature. any comments are much welcome.

Dependng on the concentration of your acid, you will more than likely end up with the dinitrate, HDN. I cannot give you any information on heat of
formation, but to calculate the heat given off in a reaction, you will need to use a calorimeter.

nitric acid is 53%. I first dissolve Hexamine into the water to make PH 8.5. then I add NA53% gradually to prevent Hexamine dinitrate formation. I
only need Hexamine nitrate.

I think this will make Me-NH2.HNO3

I had an idea for making hexamine dinitrate without the nitric acid. Just mix 1 molar equivalent of hexamine with 4 equivalents of NH4NO3 and 6 molar
equivalents of formaldehyde.
Hexamine disassociates in water to some extent back to CH2O and NH3, the equilibrium preferring condensation towards hexamine.

There're people, who melt AN with hexamine which gives some HE, I've heard a lot of ammonia gas is produced, may it be HDN is formed in this
reaction?
