Need help with Urea-formaldehyde resins
Does anyone know if there is a way of forming Urea-formaldehyde resins starting from another aldehyde that formaldehyde?
It's of great importance to form polymers from urea. I would be eternally grateful if someone could help me do this.

I found some references for Urea-Acetaldehyde resins, but they do seem to utilize some formaldehyde.
One of the cool things about old time Urea-formaldehyde resins, was their toxicity. Yup! I'm seeing that as a positive.
Used to be, CDX plywood, could resist completely rotting via earth-wood contact, for approximately 10 to 15 years. Great for long lasting planter
boxes.
The Biocidal nature of the formaldehyde component, made this plywood very rot resistant, even with no other treatments.
Modern CDX just isn't as enduring.
