heating mantle

Hi guys, how reliable are the heating mantles from ebay, like those from china or the others? I saw that the vast majority says that they can achieve 450 degree celsius, I think that it is false. I saw heating mantle from others that cost 2x and arrive at 380. I do not want to buy something that can barely boil water...
Which one i should buy?

I like the Glass-Col fabric mantles. My understanding is that heating mantles are usually reliable but can and often do burn out if allowed to distill to dryness or if operated without heating anything. If the heating mantle has sufficient wattage and you have the right voltage, you can achieve temperatures in excess of the maximum working temperature of borosilicate glass.

I have gotten the contents of a 500 mL flask up to about 380 with just a hotplate and a table salt heating bath. You might want to consider a hotplate first.
