C4H8O + NaBrO3 + NaHSO3 + H2O -----> a lot of heat and a lot of crap :D

Giving a single reaction equation for this simply is impossible. There will be tons of different reactions, occurring at the same time. You most likely need to heat the mix, but once it is going, it will give a lot of heat. Of course, it also depends on what C4H8O is. That can be any compound, there are so many isomers.

If you want to make GBL, please educate yourself about the chemistry first. Sodium bisulfite isn't even a reactant in the main reaction, its purpose is different.

Also, from your other posts I get the impression that your aim is large scale GBL manufacture. I mean posts like "I got myself 20 Liters of THF and lots of KBr, please tell me the next steps".

bromic acid and sodium sulphate would be my guess for the 1st part of the reaction.
that would then likey attack the hydrocarbon in there next.

CO2 and H2O is likely also, and as Woelen says, a lot of Crap :P

How can anybody guess what the products would be if you don't give the identity of C4H8O? Empirical formulas tell just a little more than nothing about the identity of a compound. You also missed to give the molar ratio of the reactants.

Edit: Is this is in connection with the tetrahydrofuran oxidation you inquired here? Either you have not read that thread or your memory truly sucks, since the reaction products of this reaction are described in a reference mentioned in the first post of that thread!

…there is a human touch of the cultist “believer” in every theorist that he must struggle against as being unworthy of the scientist. Some of the greatest men of science have publicly repudiated a theory which earlier they hotly defended. In this lies their scientific temper, not in the scientific defense of the theory. - Weston La Barre (Ghost Dance, 1972)
