reactiion of sulfur and ozone
hey I was wondering if you react ozone with dry sulfur will it form sulfur dioxide without combustion? I understand carbon reacts with ozone at room
temperature to form carbon dioxide. So sulfur should react the same. Can someone answer this question.

Without knowing where you read that and the context in which it was said, I suspect that what was probably meant is that the reaction begins
spontaneously when the reactions are brought into contact even at room temperature. After that point, the reaction does not necessarily remain at room
temperature. Both reactions (carbon + ozone and sulfur + ozone) are exothermic, ie they release heat, and quite a bit of it. In fact more than the
amount of heat you would get from the combustion of these fuels with oxygen.

O3 being endothermic is also explosive if too hot and above a certain concentration.
2 O3 --> 3 O2 + heat

I wouldn't be surprised if the ozone further oxidized the sulfur dioxide to sulfur trioxide. (SO2 + O3 -> SO3 +
O2)
