Iodoform ether - uses?
Saw at a vet pharmacy an ether solution of iodoform, 5 % concentration, sold in 20 ml bottles, as a disinfectant. Anything useful I can do with it?

Reduce it to diiodomethane with horrifying quantities of arsenous acid?
Technically you could digest it with hydroxide or alkoxide to iodide salts but every bottle (which is probably a few dollars) would only yield ~1.15g
of NaI. Going rate for iodides seems to be about 10-20 cents per gram so unless you need teeny quantities to play with, it's a waste of time and
money.

You could also try reducing it using an alkaline solution of glucose.I had this idea a long time ago, maybe you can test it out.
