Nothing like keeping a low profile!! I thought you were using the new methods?? Seems a bit of a waste of time people trying to wean you off the
Nitric and you wanting 5 Gallons of the stuff! Over here ordering that much would get you a visit
Dont ask me, I only know enough to be dangerous

It would be around £310 here, depending on what size you were able to buy it in to make 5 gallon up, you would also get a free ride in a police car

Nitric acid is getting harder and harder to come by it seems, and when you do find it, it isn't cheap. That's why most people opt to make it
themselves.

It is the hazmat fee that always turned me away, and towards preparing it myself. The same site I buy sulfuric acid from sells it by the liter, and
for a reasonable price, untill you factor in the hefty fee. I take for granted that concentrated sulfuric can be shipped domestically without trouble,
but that azeotropic nitric acid can not.

Wow, I can get a carboy with 14 gallons, but there is a $400 dollar deposit on the stainless steel container - refundable. The acid itself only cost
$200.
I currently buy six 2.5 liter bottles for $220 delivered.
I guess it's not a big deal.
I use it mainly for silver refining.

I must have it good. I can buy 1 gallon of 98% concentrated sulfuric acid for about $15 - it's called Rooto Drain Cleaner - get it from the hardware
store.
I used it in this video to make electrolyte for my sulfuric acid stripping cell used to reverse plate gold off of gold plated items;

I disagree, I don't think it's a waste of time at all. The experiments we are doing with the gold foils from computer scrap are quite interesting.
I hope the folks who are guiding me through those experiments don't consider it a waste of time, I'm learning much from their help!
The nitric acid is for silver refining processes.
I also use quite a bit of nitric when refining gold filled scrap as per this example;

kadriver, I do not know how the law applies where you are
but since you regularly order chemicals for refining, could you register as a business ?
A track record of selling small quantities of recovered gold should demonstrate intent.

Funny. i was back at the fertiliser shop again today.
Wanted some potassium sulphate fertiliser.
They said "All sold out. Would a 25kg sack of Potassium Nitrate be OK instead ? Great for Avocados."
€1 per Kg. (52% KNO3 48% K2O).
