I recently bought a hotplate/stir plate but it came without a stir bar
now my question is what is the best size for stirring 2L volume.
Thanks.

2L is a large volume. And you did not told us what is a shape of your vessel. And what is the maximum size of stir bar that can be used with your stir plate? Because for a 2L you will probably need the largest stirbar available.
Mine supports up to 5-6 cm long - this is something you need, because 2 cm is barely enough for 1 L.

The stir bar should conform to the bottom of your flask, you do not want a pencil shaped stir bar since that may will ride on the edges. You need a rounded stir bar. Likely you have 24/40 joints or the like. You might think that anything less than 24 mm will fit but the bottom diameter of the joint is only about 20 mm. So you need a stir bar with a diameter <20 mm to fit. I reccomend just buying a few and pick the one that works best for your flask. Something egg shaped should work fine. You're only going to get in trouble if you get a really long stir bar.
