Caffeine Crystals from Coffee (Video) Feedback?

Hey guys - wanted to share my latest video. I have changed as much to the format as I could from the feedback on the last video I had posted here.

I would really appreciate additional critique. I've tried my best to make the video more engaging and professional than before.

Thanks!

Good video and an easy to follow workup. Nice presentation and lab.

In the description, you should try to include the quantities of what you used.

Loved it.
The format of demo first, explanation second worked well. Music, tone, pacing, camera work and editing all first rate.
My only criticism is the bit on sublimation. I could not really see how the device you used worked -- what route the gas flow took and how the crystals ended up in the test tube. Nothing I couldn't look up, but if you are introducing apparatus then that piece needed some more detail.

I gave it to some of my students today. (First chem lesson of the year.) I can envisage one or two of them using this method as the basis for an extended investigation in a few months time. There was certainly some interest.

We thoroughly enjoyed your work.
I do agree w/ Sum1's comment on the apparatus. I felt like I missed part of the movie. Just when the bad guy gets clipped...

Other than that one tiny detail it made me smile. Nice job!:D

Oh.... a ps. One of those Bubble Pipes would really give an air of old world scholar. Street cred as it were.

It looks like a makeshift cold finger. Also, the crystals end up on the outside of the test tube, not on the inside. The solid caffeine crystals are heated under a vacuum causing them to sublime into their gas phase, which then re-condenses on the cool surface of the test tube. (I'm assuming the tube was filled with something cold)

Excellent video, by the way. :D

Yeah that was my first thought too and that makes sense. But if i remember correctly the next shot looked like the crystals were inside.

It just wasn't clear to me.

You can form the crystals either way. Invert the test tube, and chill the outside or stand it normally, and chill the inside. It just depends on the equipment you have

From the glimpse we had it appeared Lifeis used a silicone couple-r, suspending the test tube inside the heating container. The coolant was inside the test tube, and the crystals were collected on the outside.
