NaOCl
Hi all
To prepare sodium hypochlorite
we pass chlorine gas through lye
Cl2 + 2NaOH ----> NaOCl + NaCl + H2O
now
How separte NaOCl from NaCl

You don't need to separate them. The NaCl is always left in the NaOCl solution and does nothing in the syntheses the NaOCl is intended for.
The commercial bleach is also a solution of equimolar amounts of NaOCl and NaCl.
Separation would be difficult. Maybe the Chlorid could be precipitated with AgNO3... but then we have NaNO3 instead of NaCl as the contaminant!

That would still leave Na+, which could be reacted again with Cl2, and the process repeats until most of the solution is NaOCl and AgCl suspension.
You could also possibly crystallize it.

Chlorine monoxide
Chlorine monoxide is made by oxidizing chlorine with mercuric oxide. This can be taken into CCl4 for short term storage or dissolved in cold water to
make pure HClO which could be nuetralized with your strong alkali of choice. Maybe you want KCLO instead?
