I got deleted.

All my posts have disappeared. The threads I started have also gone. I still have my U2Us and account though.

It isn't an enormous loss -- I have only been here two weeks and only had 30 posts. However, I was enjoying a number of conversations and was looking forward to going through the links that others had posted in my thread.

Here is hoping it doesn't happen again.
J.

Yep. That was my thought too.

I tried looking for it in a Google Cache but even there there was only a small portion of it.

This happened recently to LittleGhost as well. The real concern is if it happens to a seasoned poster who has contributed a large amount of useful stuff. There is potential for some of our multi-page stickys to vanish. Or if not that, a large amount of material in it.

after you exist here a certain amount of time, you are no longer prone to oxidation :P joking aside, polverone had mentioned after a some length of time, you can't be dropped as a spammer(but manually) . your posts and threads are secure. I am not sure, but it could be as low as 30 days. you might look through the tired of reporting spam thread.

sucks you lost your account

Thanx violetsin.
Good to know how it happened. However, it seems to be an unfortunate glitch in the system. I just noticed that someone else who registered around the same time as I did also got deleted.

This is ludicrous. Logging in this morning and I couldn't find the thread anywhere. Never seen that happen before except with extreme spammy threads ('Buy my Nikons' type of stuff). I meant to U2U you but couldn't remember your nick.

And it really is gone: not even a trace in the search results. Looks like a seriously bad glitch. Maybe a Google cache could be recovered?

j_sum1, do you recall the title of the thread?

I've informed moderator 'Bert'.

Is it possible that they are getting manually spam reported by some member here, either intentionally or accidentally?

I've started another thread so that we can continue the discussion.

Here is the cached version of the previous La thread.
If anyone has more skills than me they may be able to retrieve the first page.

I'm again very sorry, j_sum1 and others affected. There was a subtle bug in how spam links were stored/processed. It turned a slightly unusual long link into a series of short fragments, and the short fragments were detected in your posts which were then identified as spam. I fixed the bug. I was able to restore your accounts because I already anticipated mistakes that could delete new users.

Unfortunately I see that my system is defective in that it does not also permit easy resurrection of posts/threads. I still have the posts saved, but they are individual snow flakes hidden in an avalanche of actual spam posts, with no data directly tying them to your accounts. It should be possible for me to recover all lost posts, eventually. As I said they are just hidden among a much larger volume of spam. It will take some tedious detective work to get them back, though, and I have just started a new job so it may take a while.

Thanks for your efforts Polverone.
I think the loss that people have noticed is the Lanthanum thread. I am not sure that much else matters.
If even only the text of that one was recovered then a link could be added to the restarted thread on Lanthanum and all will be well.

As for the other threads and nicities like post count, there is no real loss there. (I will become hazardous soon enough.)
