GABA ethyl ester and GABA questions.
Hello, Hi, I'm new to organic chemistry, and I would synthesize GABA ethyl ester.
My first question I have is, why my GABA is not soluble in water? I have tried two different brands sold in capsules. Why adding a few drops of
hydrochloric acid, makes perfectly dissolve in water and ethanol?
My second question is, can I make Fitcher esterifiacion of GABA in absolute alcohol and a few drops of hydrochloric acid to 20%? Or maybe the water
would prevent esterification and sulfuric acid is necessary?
My third question is, why can not neutralize the hydrochloric acid with sodium bicarbonate in a solution of ethanol?
