signatures
Its probably not worth it for the old forum software, but if there will be a change to a new one I would humbly suggest to limit signatures to three
lines of small text including one link max.
Those with attached novels (hi nicodem! ) can link to a text/pdf/whatever file
and the spammers with oversized bold insults to the eye can stay where the sun doesnt shine
Its about information not infotainment, isnt it?

Edited mine. I wouldn't mind imposing a 120 char limit, with 1 link, no images.

I never asked for this.

EliteForum, because some online person told you to remove your signature since it offends HIS eyes you just give in? Instead of
"criminally-inclined forum" you should change it to "pussies anonymous".

I respectfully disagree with you solo, social networks are on a totally different wavelength, off in the darkest corner of the internet. Sure, boast
about yourself there but as im sure you all know social networks are not the place to brag about your nerdy science projects. If you want true
feedback from other like minded individuals you advertise it here.
I am able to cruise through the threads much quicker because I use signatures to distinguish between people on the fly without having to look in the
corner for poster name. I don't really care for the users that sign with their name after there post because then it is redundant information, I don't
mind reading quotes.
Advertizing science related products in the signature is something I look for, three times now I have had successful transactions between people on
here simply because of their signatures advertising what they have. Double posting is not allowed here so your best bet to get the most people reading
it is in the signature.
I am not bothered by peoples lengthy signatures as long as they are science related, after the first time I read them I can subconsciously notice the
dashed lines separating signatures and posts and simply skip over it.
---------------------------------
EliteForum,
I was rude to you earlier today and I think you'll want to know why... Hypothetically, something bad happens because of a demented and evil user here,
investigators start reading through this site and come across your forum link, they then click your link and see you talking about, rape, prison
escapes, bombs, and basically everything bad.
Once they see that site, their judgment of sciencemadness will be tainted, they will think we are all like that. Your forum has nothing to do, at all,
with this gathering of intelligence located here on SM; 99.9% of the users here want nothing to do with that. so why advertise? Anybody who has a
forum with a section titled "Rape, Sex Slaves, and other sexual deviancy." will never get my respect. You are a truly sick person.

Chemcam, I also am very opposed to EliteForum's signature.
But, this is the Internet and he can do what he wishes, if he doesn't want to change it he won't. So for now, we can employ the words of Carl
Sherburne, our fat knight.
Goes something like this:
"If you're walking down the street, and you see a shit on the sidewalk, you say/think: "Ugh, I don't like it!", then you walk off. On the
Internet, if someone sees something they don't like, it's more like: "Ugh I don't like it!", then they proceed to roll in it and and shout at everyone
about how bad it is to be covered in shit."
That was longer than it actually is, if anyone can find the photo, please put it here.
My point being: Don't roll in the shit Chemcam.
Edit: Funny beacause my signature is 4 lines with a link. Sorry 'bout that.

<strong>chemcam</strong>; I must admit, I am also not a fan of <strong>EliteForum</strong>'s choice of signature, but I was
never inclined to click it until you mentioned it. (It's a pun! Get it!?) Do you blindly click on every link <a
href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ" target="_blank">presented</a> <img src="../scipics/_ext.png" /> to you? Personally,
I find EliteForum's website a little…immature?
I like to believe that my signature provides some useful information and links, rather than entertainment. For example, I link to the <a
href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Chemistry" target="_blank">WikiProject Chemistry</a> <img
src="../scipics/_wiki.png" />, which some SM.org users may not be aware of.
I am opposed to this. I have more than one link (8, currently) in my signature; is this offensive to your sensibilities? I try to keep them useful,
educational, and relevant. Since this forum's workings are so convoluted, I try to put a few links that I use (and other users may find useful?) on a
regular basis into my signature. I also attempt to keep the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anchor_text" target="_blank">anchor
text</a> <img src="../scipics/_wiki.png" /> as short as possible and avoid excessive <a
href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_space_(visual_arts)" target="_blank">white space</a> <img src="../scipics/_wiki.png" />.

Says the user attempting to make a political statement on a chemistry and amateur science forum in pseudo-patriotic colors. (Let me suggest light
grey, rather than purple.)

Okay, I'm working on streamlining my signature. So far, I've replaced "IUPAC Periodic Table of the Elements" with a button in the style of the forum.
I'll try to replace all the other links, as well, and removing or somehow integrating the remaining text into a single sleek row of buttons.
Thoughts?

Oh, okay then.
I like my signature because it allows me to keep track of whatever mildly important goal I've achieved recently.

I like your sig, because it reminds me that I'm slightly older than you are.
[edit]
This reminds me that waaaay back in the day (more than 5 years ago), I coded a signature for myself using PHP that generated an image which displayed
how long it had been since the last time I had caffeine in seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, and years. At the time I had been trying to quit
drinking coffee—I still drink way too much! I wonder if I still have that code…perhaps I could find some use for it.
By the way, <strong>Organikum</strong>, I hope you're proud of this:

I know a guy who made his way through college by drinking at least six full thermos's per day. Needless to say, he tried not drinking one day and was
messed-up by the end of it.
EDIT: Curse this formatting, I don't know how to fix this.

This says I made about 75% of my posts in the chemical forums (guess there were not so many in Forum Matters worth to count). So what?
You are a pretty anal type bfesser, I am sure everything in your world is tidy and orderly, no surprise you find no liking on me.
But thats your problem, alone yours.
Rest assured, I dont like you either.
You want to get a moderator here?
Bakunin beware!
Better bfesser: Go home, drink bleach, and die.
Before make sure everythings tidy of course.....

Perhaps undermedicating. Sigs should be judged on lameness of course. I always liked Organikum's Hive sigs. ayush's original sig here had to have been
the worst ever, and you know, that kind of makes it a classic, as long as I never see it again.
