Why are you so desperately looking for benzaldehyde?

I looked up benzaldehyde and got a viable source right away - UTFGSE!
(Hint: It can be found in every (good) American grocery store, sometimes in more than one source).

Sure, why not? The problem with oxidations, is stopping them, not starting them.
Use the "Search" function. That... should keep you busy for a few weeks.

Just make it from toluene or benzyl alcohol, it is much easier and much safer aswell.

Or, you know, almonds. I'd imagine an extraction would be possible from dried and then crushed or even powdered almonds.

Yes, but it is not the easiest or cheapest route to your target. Almond extract, cinnamon oil, toluene... All of these are better ideas. Read the huge
thread, ,Toluene to Benzaldehyde. It covers more than just the oxidation of toluene.

Yea I appreciate what you are saying Bot0nist.
But I thought I would start a styren
Thread as it can be a starting point to
Other compounds.
Thx rocket

Do you have a procedure in mind for the oxidation, or is that what your asking? I assume you have searched the other styrene threads for advice on
oxidation and possible uses.
benzaldehyde from ozonosis of styrene
https://www.sciencemadness.org/whisper/viewthread.php?tid=22...
Oxidation of Styrene
https://www.sciencemadness.org/whisper/viewthread.php?tid=14...
Oxidation of styrene to phenylacetaldehyde
https://www.sciencemadness.org/whisper/viewthread.php?tid=22...
etc., etc., etc.
Enter "styrene" in the forum search function, select subject only, and read, for days...

Fairly easy to recover Benzaldehyde from oil of Cassia, or Cinnamaldehyde. Or, Cinnamon bark, if that is all you can access.
Just a steam-type distillation under basic conditions.
