Kerosene's fine, I have my calcium in open air and it's putting up a decent fight.

I concur especially with the large surface area of granules. I have a few pounds of Ca metal in the form of balls stored in air in well sealed
containers. After 8 years I do not see any sign of deterioration. Had it been granules I am sure a mineral oil would have been needed for protection.
I made that mistake with a few pounds of Samarium which is now even more pounds of the oxide. Very shocking to see a bulging plastic container full of
powder in place of what was once nice chunks of stringy metal.
