Numerical Weather Forecasting with NEWR EMS

I thought I might share this one for any other weather buffs out there... I have been tinkering with a program called NEWR EMS (formerly WRF EMS) that lets you do some numerical weather forecasting from home

http://strc.comet.ucar.edu/software/newrems/

With a decently powerful computer (or you can go for excessive with a 8 core processor with 16gb of RAM... not that I would ever do that...) you can output some decent resolution maps like below (from the model I ran 48 hours before Sandy made landfall)

There are a crapton of outputs, but you get the idea.

On their site it is well documented on how to use the software, but for more questions you can try: http://www.wrfems.info/
