N-Demethylating agent
What would be a suitable demethylating agent for ephedrine and other similar amino alcohols? I know pyridine hcl is used for some unrelated
compounds, but I'm not sure if of would work in this instance. After searching for some time, I've only seen specific mention of demethylation of
ephedrine in biology/pharmacology papers that refer to specific enzymes that handle this function in the body. Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I haven't read the article, just did a quick search and this is what i found
Rosenau, T; Hofinger, A:, Potthast, A: KosmaA, P. "General, Selective, High-Yield N-Demethylation Procedure for Tertiary Amines by Solid Reagents in a
Convenient Column Chromatography-like Setup" Org. Lett., 2004, 6 (4), pp 541–544

Yeah I saw that one. I'm sure it works, but it's not very practical for me, since I would have to procure all the equipment for a chromatography
setup. That paper is pretty much the only thing I found that wasn't biology related (talked about enzymes in the body, etc).
Thanks for the reply.
