Acetone

If you are looking for reagent grade acetone (99%+) then you will need to purchase the solvent from a scientific supplier.
I would not have thought that such a widely used solvent could be so difficult to find, although, I have never been to Italy...:)
If you do not have 'access' to a chemical outlet, then i suggest that you start looking in hardware stores. If acetone isnt on the shelf, then ask them to order you some, because it really is a common, unsuspicious solvent. However, OTC acetone can usually contains a significant amount of water, as you have found out.
You could remove most of the water molecules if you dried the acetone with MgSO4, or another suitable drying agent.

You can find acetone in any hardware (ferramenta) or at Bricofer.
