Vacuum on sale

Nice, cheap, and on sale here on Amazon ($169.09, free two day shipping with prime). I think (not positive) its the same one that United Nuclear sells for almost $300.

Any downsides to using this for distillation? Its specifically marketed for refrigeration system evacuation. I noticed it mentioned in this thread and a few others, however it was never elaborated upon in significant depth for disadvantages. Not really sure what i'll use it for just yet, but probably just basic vacuum functions to be honest.

Anyone have personal experience with this pump?

yes, you can get them from harbor freight for 94 last week.
normal price is 149 i think, but harbor freight routinely has them on sale.

mine (the 3 CFM version) pulled 100-150 microns out of the box.

Looks like Chinese junk that will break after a few hours of use.

You also need a dry ice/acetone or LN2 trap to catch any vapors or fumes

The best is a Nalgene water aspirator or a PTFE diaphragm pump
