Pb(NO3)2
Two easy (and very cheap) ways to lead nitrate(and huge amounts of NOx hehe):
1)H2SO4 + Ca(NO3)2 + Pb > CaSO4 (precipitates) + xPb(NO3)2 +xNO
2)2NH4HSO4(made from thermal decomposition of cheap (NH4)2SO4-fertilizer) + 2NH4NO3 + Pb > (NH4)2SO4 + xPb(NO3)2 + xNO
which in turn could be seperated by recristallization
(sorry for the equations, but im too lazy)

Without wanting to be a black bird:
PbSO4 is approximatively 1000 times less soluble than CaSO4!
This means 99,9999% of your lead will turn into unsoluble PbSO4!
The best way to lead nitrate are:
PbCO3/PbO/Pb(OH)2/Pb + HNO3/or NH4NO3!
No other cheap and easy ways!

ts ts, dont be that annoyed.
u would have to remove the caso4 by first diluting with water and filtering...the equations did not mean u have to make it exactly that way.

I see it is a two step process and not a single step one!
H2SO4 + Ca(NO3)2 --> CaSO4(s) + 2HNO3
Pb + HNO3 --> Pb(NO3)2 + NOx + H2O
So basically it simply is Pb + HNO3!
The way you proposed to work won't work since:
Pb will be imediately coated by an unsoluble layer of PbSO4.
By direct reaction:
H2SO4 + Pb --> PbSO4(s) + SO2 + H2O
Or by cross reaction between the just made Pb(NO3)2 and CaSO4/H2SO4!
Reaction between HNO3 and Pb is already very slow and needs heating; once coated by PbSO4, it will even be harder since HNO3 can't reach the naked
metal.

sorry for the misleading equations...i thought it would be obvious to you this process had to be done in two steps.
It is, of course, the known method of reacting Pb with HNO3 at elevated temperatures under evolution of NO2, my proposal only was to generate the
needed HNO3 with the precipitation reactoin including H2SO4 and Ca(NO3)2.
Where i live, concentrated HNO3 is that expensive, i would not even think of buying some...
