Lab tips

Hey everyone. I was recently offered the chance to write a guest post in the Make blog about amateur chemistry, and the topic will most likely be 10 useful tips for the amateur chemistry lab. What are some short important tips for the lab? A good example is Myst32YT's video. I have a few but I want everyones input as I'm sure you guys have some I don't. Thanks!
