Titration carbonate/bicarbonate

I found a simple method of titration of carbonate/bicarbonate, by using 0.1N H2SO4 and phenolftalein and methyl organge indicators (the ones I have)

1) titrate the carbonate/bicarbonate solution, with phenolftalein, till pink disappears.
2) take note (carbonate concentration) A
3) add methyl orange and titrate to peach color.
4) take note B
5) bicarbonate concentration B-A.

Is this method valid?

Why will first all carbonate be neutralized by acid and none of the bicarbonate (1)? Why will H2SO4 "choose" to first neutralize carbonate instead of bicarbonate?

Thanks

CO3(2-) + H+ --> HCO3(-)
