"Pellets" in NM
I've just come by some nitromethane - it's a part full Aldrich bottle, not full
However there are pellets in the bottom -lots of them. I'm hoping that they are for keeping it dry, but what would you think they are they look 2mm
dia 6 mm long cylinders that sound hard against the bottle and look grey. I'm wondering if they would likely be sodium metal or some kind of other
absorbant.
While I realise that you can't see the pellets, wise guesses would be appreciated, as would certain fact that "Aldrich always insert ..... into NM"

Most certainly from your description they are molecular sieves, used to keep the NM dry.

Had a quick look on sigma's site and it appears that it is sold over 'molecular sieves' to keep H2O below 0.01%
