Reaction between Lead (II) Oxide and Manganese (IV) Oxide
I heated Lead (II) oxide - PbO and Manganese (IV) Oxide - MnO2 in fine powder form to 600-800 deg C (red heat) is resulting in a dark grey powder with
a greenish tinge. Does anyone know if these react together ?
I couldn't find anything of that sort in books i have...
I tested it a bit - its is not soluble in water and with HCl it does not give as much chlorine as the manganese dioxide would have ( some chlorine
evolves maybe due to some residual MnO2 present). Any further testing ideas is appreciated.

I would guess that you'd get a fused mixture of MnO2, Mn2O3, PbO and PbO2.
Please remember: "Filtrate" is not a verb.
Write up your lab reports the way your instructor wants them, not the way your ex-instructor wants them.

The mixture never melted visibly on heating.... i had premixed the reactants very well ....it just changed color keeping its powdery form... i was
wondering if any plumbate or manganate would form ?
