Keck to 10/19 Joints
Hi
I have a quickfit/quartz set with 10/19 joints, so I have great difficulty getting the keck's for this size.
Does anyone of you have these for sale?
or if you have other tips for keeping glass apparatus together besides using kecks?
maybe you how to bend kecks from a steelwire?
any tips about this are appreciated!

Perhaps small cable ties. One tie (in a loop) around the top, one around the bottom and two tie's between the top and bottom loops. You would be
cutting the two tie's that go from the top part to the bottom part each time you are taking the glass apart.
A bit messy but might get you along until Kecks appear.
Don't use the glass wear for anything very hot or cable ties may soften and stretch.

Try Scientific Glass
You can find the clips here
I don't know the price but they sell the B19 clips @ £ 1.30 each which is the best price I have found
Hope this helps

Just a note:
If looking for 'kecks' on ebay, don't search for Kecks but rather for 'KECK CLIPS' or just 'KECK'

Incidentally, the clips Expediglass sell are far cheaper than the Schott Durans. The expedi's are made in China, but made from the same polymer as the
Schotts.
B10 is a bit of an odd size.
Quartz you say? Are you serious about that, it's actually Quartz?
That is one nifty set of glass if so. If I won the lottery, I'd swap it all to Quartz for fun.
Does the glass have any 'devils hooks' on the joints, the little barbs? If so, you can use springs or wire.
I know QuickFit, the actual QuickFit company in the UK (now under the name SciLabWare), produce B10. You could contact them for information on clips,
but they may take a month or so to reply.
This is the actual QuickFit site. The brand is, and has always, been made in England, in the same place. Although the company name has changed
numerous times - e.g. Bibby / Bibby Sterilin - the glass line has always been called QuickFit. All QuickFit glass has a Q with "made in England"
stamped on it. The company did originally start by specialising not only in the taper sockets but also Quartz.
If you want some really nice (but expensive) clips, go for stainless or PTFE.
Stainless does rust around corrosive chemistry. But has a high temperature limit. The high temperature is not that much use, as it's beyond the grease
sealing the joints.
PTFE is massively inert and the temperature limit matches the greases. They're about $7 a clip.
Has anyone bought from Laboy (echowhz) before? He's from China and so is the glass, but it looks real decent for the prices. I'm thinking of buying
some and comparing it with the Kontes / Chemglass / Ace / Quickfit (I suspect chemglass / kontes / ace are all coming from the same factory in the
US).
Standard clips in a B10 size from QuickFit.
The really pricey high end B10 clips from QuickFit.
Their B10 microchemistry set. Note the lack of price and photos. COME ON QUICKFIT!
QuickFit do not have many public outlets. The most recognised is likely Sigma. If you know anyone, or work / study somewhere, with a Sigma account,
ask them to ask QuickFit if QuickFit won't sell you them directly (I doubt it). This is like a game of Chinese whispers over bits of plastic.

Keck clamps are decent but they are frowned upon at my work since they cannot hold the glassware together for pressure transfers. The easiest and
cheapest way is to simply twist some wire together then wrap around the joint and twist together the other side. Do this on both joints and attach
together with a rubber band. If you're doing high temp, >150°C you'll have to wire them together as the rubber bands are not long for this world.

The pressure thing is also a good thing, as it ensures the glass is not going to pressurise and then explode.
I frequently leave some bits of glass unclipped for precisely that reason.
