80g or 900L of hydrogen in a paintball tank.


Holy crap. Was watching PBS on the boob tube the other day and seen a thing on alternative power for vehicles. There was this company on there called ovonics that manufactures soide state hydrogen storage using some proprietary alloy.

So I decided to look them up and damn if they are not selling cylinders. These things are flat out amazing including their extremely high price tag... the model above is only $800

Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital ingredient in beer.

ive allways day dreamed about making some attempt to syntheszing some of this kind of metal hydride type alloy powder but the more closly i looked at it the harder it seemed :(

I'm willing to bet there's a lot of palladium or platinum in there. I suppose it can't really be too much, an ounce would cover the price tag quite easily.

Good guess, Tim, but their patents cover other materials such as LaNi and TiNi. Here's one of them:
