E2 elimination meso-2,3-dibromobutane

What is the mechanism of the E2 elimination of bromine from meso-2,3-dibromobutane induced by the iodide ion to give specifically the E-2-butene??

I am having a problem with the second bromine. Can't figure out a mechanism.

When opening threads in Organic chemistry, please provide the reference of the discussed topic. Experience tells us that members here are not mind readers. Otherwise, you can open threads without references in the Beginnings section where it is meant that you intentionally leave the literature search at the discretion of other members. For now, I'm moving this thread there.
