chemical glass

I have been buying glassware made out of Borosilicate. Is it the same as Pyrex?Or is one better then the other if its not? Can there be drawbacks to one type of class over another? thank you for any help. Beastmaster

For all practical purposes, it's the same thing. Pyrex is just Corning's name for their borosilicate glassware.

Pyrex glassware is borrosilicate i believe but better made so it is resistant to cracking due to sudden changes of heat. Pyrex is definitly one of the best you can buy, but it is much more expensive.
You can buy cheap borrosilicate glassware under different brand names (Bomex, Simex ect..) but there are theads on these and which to choose.
