Pharmacies are not suitable at all to buy chemicals in the Netherlands. Already quite some years ago, they switched from making drugs and medicines to just selling prepackaged items and registring patient's medication and possible incompatibilities. They have no chemicals anymore, nor simple glassware and bottles and that kind of things. A year ago I tried to buy a plastic bottle for storing a chemical, but I could not buy that, because they do not sell that anymore.

For chemicals you have to go online in the Netherlands. Only the most mundane chemicals can be purchased locally (e.g. Na2CO3, NaHCO3, 10% HCl, NaOH). Even common solvents like acetone, ligroin and white spirit are disappearing now and are replaced by 'green' eco-stuff.

The polish guy I placed and paid for an order over a year ago got back to me saying that he forgot my order and just found evidence of that in his email. He then sent the order consisting of:

WP_20140512_005.jpg - 99kB

from left to right, bottom to top:
-10, 250ml containers
-1kg Mg shavings for grignards
-1000ml DMSO
-1kg Phenol
-1kg red phosphorus
-1kg NaNO2
-1Kg p.a. NaOH
-100g CoCl2x6H2O
-1kg KMnO4
-1kg anh. K2CO3
-100g KSCN
-50g methyl orange
-A set of hazard stickers, the nice old fashioned kind, not those horrible new ones.

This order was placed before I had acquired RP, so now i have a lot more than I ever need (something like 1,7kgs). I guess making PCl3 and such is in order, as well as lots of WP.

all above information is intellectual property of Pyro. :D

I just got some zirconium for my collection.
Also 1lb of MnSO4 and a vacuum filtration kit.

I post pictures of chemistry on instagram as bismuthate. http://iconosquare.com/bismuthate

My latest additions... 100g Raney nickel alloy powder, 250g anhydrous aluminium chloride and 1l hexanes(70%n-hexane, 30% mixed isomers). The Raney nickel is something I have been looking for for a very long time! :D

Nothing too special. Starting out with this: http://education.mrsec.wisc.edu/nanolab/gold/index.html

After that, we shall see.

And again. This time ordering from Flinn Scientific for some summer science activities at a program I work for.

100 mL Adipoyl Chloride/Hexane Solution
100 mL Sebacoyl Chloride/Hexane Solution
200 mL Hexamethylenediamine/Sodium Hydroxide Solution
100 g Polyvinyl Alcohol
25 g Fluorescein (the disodium salt)

They shall learn about polymers. :) The fun part is that the leftover chemicals are mine when I'm done. :D

The course is too intensive for one person to handle.
You need Assistants, who also get a share of the leftovers.
Lots of Assistants would be a good number.

Application forms to pichoro via pm.
Mine's already in.

Picked up this centrifuge http://medused.com/mmSEL/Images/59006-01.jpg for $30 at an estate sale in perfect condition. I asked the lady how much she was asking for the centrifuge and she asked what I was talking about. I pointed at it and she said "ohhhh the test tube shaker thingy?":D

Got lucky there :) In all honesty, I try not to cheat yard sale people out of their money. If they have something at 10% it's valued price, I'll normally pay them double or triple to be nice.

Tellurium 2 lbs ingot, supposedly 97%, slated to be here next Wednesday. I'm pretty stoked as I have been watching and waiting for a while to get a decent priced Te sample that wasn't going to be just a little crumb size.

and a 250g cadmium metal stick stated @ 99.99%+

The palladium chloride I ordered just arrived, it does not look at all like palladium chloride, it is brown like anhydrous copper chloride, and not red at all, it does not dissolve in water by the test I have done, heating up to 200 C as no effect at all and it makes a green spectrum in the flame test...

I will have to test more, but I think I was scammed...

I never asked for this.

I really hope you did not get scammed, it is so insulting. I got scammed with vanillin a while back but if it were PGM salts I would be far angrier!

I bought 1g chrysene today without having a particular use for it yet. It seemed interesting and the price was right :)

I will get angry, 5g of palladium chloride!:mad::mad:

It is not reduced by Alkaline formaldehyde sol., which means I got scammed.. I will try to get my money back. It dissolve in HCl to make a light yellow sol, which is not reducible...

I never asked for this.
