Just buy it. It would be more expensive than 3 cents per gram if you made it by dissolving silverware.

If I use thrift store silverware, I can get a kilogram around $1, but it will take something like $30 worth of household bleach and $10 worth of muriatic acid to process it, not to mention sodium carbonate and potassium chloride and sodium bisulfite for cleanup... it's definitely cutting it close, and I haven't even factored in electricity costs or time, broken glassware, waste disposal, etc....

Disposal of Dichromate or better decontamination of it:

Very cheap and fast way: Use ascorbic acid
