Make S2Cl2

You'll get sulphur crystals just by leaving the bottle open.

Beautiful crystals Hegi. I have 2.5kg of 99.5% sulfur and half a gallon of toluene, so I guess I don't have any excuse not to try this:D

Do I remember correctly that sulfur dissolves in liquid ammonia? I've always wanted to try this.

Any other SF Bay chemists?

Wow cool. I just bought a bottle of Benzene, I might try it out with benzene, too since there were quite
nice results with Toluene and Xylene lately.
Benzene does not work very well, sulphur dissolves in toluene MUCH better than in benzene.

Yes. I've used toluene to purify sulphur by recrystallisation. I Wasn't particularly aiming for large crystals but I have attached a picture of my purified sulphur.

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

This is very nice! I have to do it at home, but I do not have toluene unfortunately. I just had a very-very bad idea about this. What do you think would happen if we used this method for something like Yellow Powder? I am too afraid of KABOOOOOOM to do it.
