Solutions of Rochelle salt are sometimes used for quenching reactions. I don't know why. I think I read about in context of C = C (alkene) reduction.
Is this at all familiar to anyone? Glyoxylamide reduction?
Occasionally used to work up reactions involving Al or Ti species, as it forms soluble complexes. LiAlH4 reduction is probably the most common
application as a quench reagent, but also useful for others.
