Not sure how much HCl can go into DCM if you're trying to straight max out. Soon as the DCM starts getting darker, you've gone *way* too far. Need to
just keep testing the pH. If I overshoot and go past five, then I'll wash the DCM with a very mild NaOH solution, dry, and re-test, and if necessary,
start again.
