Isopropyl Biphenyl
I scrap electronics and run into a fair number of capacitors that contain Isopropyl Biphenyl, but can find very limited information on this compound.
Has anyone worked with it before, and is there a solvent I could use to dissolve it? Ive tried things like gasoline and ethanol to dissolve it with
little success. Any information or suggestions would be appreciated.

I've used biphenyl and di-t-butylbiphenyl in the lab, which should have similar solubilities. They're poorly soluble in ethanol (but decently so in
hot ethanol- good for recrystallization). Moderately soluble in hexanes, especially if heated.
Please remember: "Filtrate" is not a verb.
Write up your lab reports the way your instructor wants them, not the way your ex-instructor wants them.

If the ethanol doesn't do it and you're working with OTC stuff, ("non-chlorinated") brake cleaner might be worth a try. Acetone and heptanes is a
common formulation, and with a bit of heat should do the job.
