Lanthanum metal cleaning


Can anyone suggest an acid I could use to clean lumps of lanthanum metal without dissolving it away?

Let me guess, you ordered some from China and it arrived in saran wrap with the best part of it as oxide ?

It was shipped in Canada, and its just a tarnish layer, its silvery underneath.
