Feasibility of making a neutron detector tube controller circuit?
I'm in need of a neutron detector for a few things, but all the ones that include the control circuitry I've found seem to be multiple thousand
dollars. However, I found this, which would probably suit my needs fine. Unfortunately, it doesn't include any of the control circuitry. How would one drive a tube like
this? I haven't been able to find any real information on this tube, much less a datasheet. assume it would require high voltage, which isn't really
an issue as I have a 10kv power supply. Would it be a similar process to controlling a Geiger tube, or is it completely different?

Nuclear physics is neat. It's a shame it's so regulated...
Now that I think about it, that's probably a good thing. Still annoying though.

the description in the listing gives 2900 Vdc operating voltage (2850 to 2950)
and it seems to be similar in operation to a GM tube.
CAUTION : Hobby Chemist, not Professional or even Amateur

Thanks, I just wanted to verify that they were driven in a similar way.
Nuclear physics is neat. It's a shame it's so regulated...
Now that I think about it, that's probably a good thing. Still annoying though.

That is a Russian corona tube. Corona tubes are weird beasts. They need very specific power supplies and pulse amplifiers if you want to get anything
useful out of them. If you try to operate them under the same conditions as usual 3He proportional tubes, all you will get is white noise.
There is a commercially available preamplifier made specifically for this sort of tube. It's not cheap though, and shipping time can be very long
