HOW to control condition of experiment?


recently,i did a experiment .certainly ,some problem appear.the question is : when acetyl chloride react with unsaturated one such as but-3-en-2-one ,it produce two material,one is 3-methylenepentane-2,4-dionethat is acetyl chloride addtion to carbon ,the other is buta-1,3-dien-2-yl acetatethat is acetyl chloride addition to oxygen.
how could i do to get first one in major.
please give me some advise .thanks!!!

This can be controlled the same way as dienes can be, re-read up on thermodynamic and kinetic control.
