Dehydrate aluminum chloride hydrate?

Hello everyone,

I am curious as to if anyone has ever dehydrated aluminum chloride hydrate by following the CN103803622A patent, https://patents.google.com/patent/CN103803622A/en

It is very hard to follow as the translation is poor, but gist of it is to dehydrate the alcl3 hydrate crystal as much as possible until it’s only the water locked in the crystal structure. Then dissolve the alcl3:h20 in anhydrous alcohol, vacuum distill to remove more water, and then mix 10-15% alcl3 weight in nh4cl. This apparently makes alcl3:nh3 which can be deaminated upon heating

Interesting... However, a more straightforward method of preparing anhydrous AlCl3 is to mix anhydrous ZnCl2 (which can be obtained quite easily and cheaply) with aluminium powder, then distill the dry mixture (AlCl3 is quite volatile).

@ChemPlayer has a video about that at BitChute Channel: https://www.bitchute.com/video/OUAQvSq2YLU2/
