My parents dont let me buy platinum
I told my parents I want to buy platinum because I want them help me buy some. They said no. They said I should study and get good results, don't
think platinum.

Thank you for sharing your struggles, I also post stuff like this in Legal and Societal Issues whenever my parents don't want to lend me money.

lmao - maybe set your sites somewhat lower - surely there's other (cheaper) metal chem/electrochem experiments you might want to perform.
Also, consider listening to your parents - I can assure you that they are infinitely wiser than you are right now.

What do you want the platinum for?

Maybe start off with some nice chunks of bronze, or copper, brass, or even silver?

I'm on the side of the OP, I rang my mum recently and asked if she's buy some platinum or gold for me and she refused, so then I rang my kids and they
refused as well. I blame the government for preventing my freedom to buy stuff when i don't have the patience to save to buy it myself

There are relatively few reactions which you can run in an amateur laboratory which you need platinum for. You're not reforming petroleum or
electrolysing fluorine.
There are a lot of other reactions you can run. There is interesting chemistry with niobium, silver and indium which are much cheaper.

And of course there is a lot you can do with the common metals as well.

I called my old man and asked him to buy me platinum too, and he also said no.
Clearly the governments fault our parents won't buy us platinum.
More serious though, get a catalytic converter from the junkyard, you can get up to a few gram of mostly Pt out of, around a half gram of Pd and some
Rh I believe.
I know someone who tried that and he said it was easy.
If you're so desperate to get some, put some work into it.
But if you're spoiled and rather want foil or even sheets... get a job and earn it.

You probably caught them on an off day. Tell them you have no interest in your future and really just want platinum. If the still say no maybe we can
crowd source you some.

I only want few grams platinum for element collection, I don't want to use to do experiments. Is catalytic converter extracted platinum pure? Can
completely remove Pd and Rh? I can't enter clearly not atara provided link. Also I have silver. Silver not so expensive so I can buy. Before platinum
price was cheaper so I want to buy but now rised.

When I read the OP I thought the implication was that his parents thing he shouldn't be "wasting time" on chemistry- of platinum or otherwise) but
should be studying.
My suggestion is that he tries to explain that messing about with chemistry is both.
It's a leisure activity- for those like us who enjoy it, but it is also educational.
The spot price for a gram of platinum is less than I#d spend on a typical Friday night out.
I'm not saying that's wise, but just pointing out that buying platinum isn't very expensive.
It's not like he asked for a car.

Okay, jokes aside. I would love to get one or two grams of platinum/rhodium for spot prices. I do have some palladium chloride. I wouldn't know where
to start though for getting those small quantities.
I'm thinking about passing by the local car yard asking them about their catalysts... I have a lot of technical grade 30% HCl, I could use that
together with oxygen to get rid of the less noble metals.

Draculic acid sells platinum. And other PMs as well.
Send him a u2u if interested.

I have sourced a number of precious metals from Draculic acid. Always a reasonable price, very responsive and quick page.

Then it's a good job that he's already got Silver in his collection. |

If you have an income and have enough money you may buy all of the platinum you wish for.
No credit card, there are money cards, place enough money on your money card and use it.
If you do not have an income and still desire platinum, well, get a job.

This is what I used for my sample. Barely noticeable in the ampoule, but it was good enough at the time. Price has gone up by 3 whole dollars since I
bought it, though...
If you're feeling more adventurous (and don't mind saving up about a day or two's work at minimum wage), this might be fun while we're all stuck at
