Methanesulfonyl azide as an antidote for hydrogen sulfide


Apparently methanesulfonyl azide is a decent H2S antidote (tested in mice). I'd have expected the azide to be toxic, but apparently the mice survive.

I really, really, really hate supplementary information where the synthesis just reads: 'synthesized according to literature procedure'.

I mean sure, say that the procedures were adapted from literature and credit the original author, but by not describing the replication of the procedure the work itself becomes less reproducible. Did it really go as described in literature, did they really obtain dry materials (if I must believe the reported nnr spectrum) and how safe is that really?

I just do not feel like making contact explosives in a purity suitable for biological experiments with such meagerly discribed syntheses. So no thanks, I will pass, I much enjoy having 10 digits.
